Janome®
In Japanese, the word janome (pronounced Ja-NO-me) means "eye of the snake." The company earned this name in the 1920s when founder Yosaku Ose, a pioneer in Japanese sewing manufacturing, began to use the round, 15-class, metal bobbin system instead of the traditional long-shuttle type. The Japanese thought the new round bobbin looked like a snake's eye. The innovative design earned the company its name, and Janome® has been leading the industry ever since. The company now has sewing divisions in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, and agents in Africa, Central and South America, and throughout the Pacific Rim of Asia. The company's manufacturing prowess has also made it a world leader in the manufacturing of high-precision robots.

Elna Sewing Machines
Elna Sewing Machines have been around since 1940 with the launch of the Elna # 1, the first compact, portable, electric sewing machine with a free arm. The metal carrying case doubled as a sewing table. The Elna # 1 was green in color, breaking away from the traditional black, an innovation for the time. The machine was a resounding success and so began Elna's commitment to the home sewing industry. Elna is a growing company committed to bringing excellence to customers in over 60 countries worldwide and has always been famous for quality of stitches and innovative machine design. As a result, Elna was the first to introduce features like lightweight machines, automatic needle threader, heirloom stitches, expandability of stitch packages through the invention of interchangeable cams, cartridges, PRO Cards and EnVision Cards. Elna has a firm belief in making sewing fun. And to make sewing fun, the machines need to be easy to use, versatile and modern.
